Every week we pull together some great Canadian recipes from Canadian food bloggers around the web featuring one main ingredient or dish. This week, we brought together 22 delicious recipes featuring the fruit that closes the summer season with a flourish: figs!
Figs, oh, delicious, delicate figs... For many of us, the first taste of this end-of-summer fruit has been in some sort of preserve, either dried, caramelized or pickled.
However, once you try fresh figs for the first time, you might never go back to the preserved version. The sweetness of the fruit, its velvety texture and the gentle crunchiness of its seeds are so irresistible that it's easy to understand why the ancient Greeks and Romans fell in love with it, so much so that they mention it in many of their classical texts.
Figs and heartwarming desserts go hand in hand, although they also pair well with strong cheeses, salty hams and, of course, wine.
Whether you mix them in your stuffing or you make them shine in a cake, figs will always make you look like a cooking star. So, go ahead, browse through the gallery below, get inspired and enjoy preparing some of these 22 Mouthwatering Fig Recipes.
