Every week we pull together some great Canadian recipes from Canadian food bloggers around the web featuring one main ingredient or dish. This week, we want to join the festival of light with Diwali Recipes!
Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights that represents the victory of good over evil.
The celebration takes place every fall and lasts for five days. During its climax, which usually happens on the third day, those who partake in it adorn themselves in their finest clothes, illuminate their homes with lamps and candles, pray to Lakshmi or the goddess of prosperity, light fireworks, and share delicious meals where sweets are the protagonists.
Made from flour, semolina, rice, chickpea flour, dry fruit, milk solids, and clarified butter, sharing Indian sweets and confections such as Soan Papdi or Cashew Pista Rolls assures prosperity and a delightful future.
So if you want to bring light into your life and embrace the victory of knowledge over ignorance, then it's the perfect time to learn how to make Diwali delicacies and share them with your loved ones and here's some Diwali recipes to get you started!
